ABOUT PETS

 Pet animals are domesticated or tamed animals kept primarily for companionship, enjoyment, or emotional support, providing affection and reducing stress for their owners, with common examples including dogs, cats, fish, birds (parrots, canaries), and small mammals like rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs, requiring proper care like food, shelter, and exercise. They differ from working domestic animals (cows, chickens) by not being kept for labor or food, though some, like horses, 


Common Types of Pets

Mammals: Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas.

  • Birds: Parrots, parakeets, canaries, finches, doves, cockatiels.
  • Fish: Freshwater and saltwater fish kept in aquariums.
  • Reptiles & Amphibians: Snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs, toads, often in vivariums.

  • Insects & Arthropods: Ants (ant farms), stick insects, tarantulas, hermit crabs (more common in some regions).
